Hardware

Hey there, folks! So, I’m running three servers, but honestly, they’re more like desktops in my setup. Let me give you the lowdown. I’ve got two trusty old Dell desktops from my job. Both of these bad boys are packing Intel i5-7500 processors and 500GB of storage. Now, here’s the kicker: one of them boasts a sweet 16GB of RAM, while the other is chilling with just 8GB. But wait, there’s more! Santa was generous this year because I also scored an old gaming desktop. It’s rocking an Intel i5-6600K, a whopping 32GB of RAM, and a jaw-dropping 21TB of storage.

Software

Okay, let’s talk software. I run a ton of stuff on these three machines, thanks to the magic of Docker. Seriously, you’d be amazed at what you can do with an old desktop using Docker.

Media VM

First up, my media VM. Here’s what’s cooking:

  • Sonarr: This one’s a champ at keeping my “Linux ISO” collection organized.
  • Radarr: It’s the sibling of Sonarr, helping me keep those “Linux ISO” files in check.
  • Transmission: My trusty buddy for downloading more “Linux ISO” goodness.
  • Overseerr: A lifesaver for finding “Linux ISO” content.
  • Plex: This is where we switch gears a bit. Plex is all about “Family Photos.”

NAS VM

Now, onto the NAS VM. I’m currently using OpenMediaVault to store my precious ISO files and other bits I can’t afford to lose. But hey, I might be making the leap to TrueNAS in 2024. Stay tuned!

Main Docker Server

Alright, folks, this is where the action happens. I used to have a boatload of stuff here, but I did some tidying up recently. Here’s what’s left:

  • Linkding: Your trusty bookmark manager.
  • Searxng: The metasearch engine for all your searching needs.
  • Vaultwarden: Keeps my passwords safe and sound.
  • Lynx: Shortens those long URLs for me.
  • NginxProxyManager: My go-to for handling public-facing services.
  • PiVPN: A must for securely VPN-ing into my network when I’m away from home sweet home.

Pi-hole

No surprises here – it’s my Pi-hole LXC for ad-blocking. Keeping those pesky ads at bay!

Now, this VM started as a one-trick pony for Navidrome, but I couldn’t resist adding more goodies:

  • Navidrome: My DJ for playing music.
  • FreshRSS: Keeps me in the loop with RSS feeds for news and other juicy content.
  • Memos: Bye-bye, Google Keep! This is my new note-taking buddy.
  • Nextcloud: Replacing Google Calendar, Drive, and tasks one step at a time.
  • Mealice: A tasty addition for storing all my top-secret recipes.

Home Assistant

Last but not least, I’ve got some smart devices sprinkled around my humble abode. To keep things in check, I’ve corralled them into one place. It’s pretty darn cool and a bit of a rabbit hole, but I’m hoping to dive deeper into it this year.

And there you have it, my tech setup in all its friendly glory! If you’ve got any questions or want to chat about tech, feel free to drop a comment. Cheers!
